In a one night chance meeting in New York, in 2008, one week after coming back home to Brooklyn after living in Europe for three years, I met Christopher Cordoba, at the basement bar at the Knitting Factory on the lower east side in Manhattan. A band he was in was on tour playing at the CMJ, they were in NYC, for one night, in from London. By random act of god, we chatted at the bar after his set. He was on the way back to London the next day- we met for coffee the next morning, talked about music, he got on a plane, and we kept in touch.
We’ve stayed virtual friends since- and very happily have been making music.
Pleased to share some of the fruits of this long-term collaboration, under band name Three Blondes.
Here’s more about these amazing musicians who are behind the sounds and lyrics I hear in my head.
Mara McCann, (Vocals and Lyrics), based in New York.
The band and producers: James Watson (keys, bass) has worked with Propaganda, OMD and Roy Ayers. Evan Jenkins (drums) played with the likes of Neil Crowley and Van Morrison. Christopher Cordoba (guitars, musical composition and arrangement) worked with Billy McKenzie, Pascal Gabriel and Phil Vinall. The Three Blondes new release, “Tainted” was mastered by Greg Moore at Finyl Tweak in London.
“I sampled the tracks and it’s great. I’m always looking for special music and this certainly is that.” Ed Maxin, weekly columnist at No Depression and Americana Roots and Music Daily.
